Project Associate Position in Synthetic Biology
Applications are invited for one position of Project Associate, initially for a period of one year (extendable depending on performance), in the STC ISRO-sponsored project entitled Development of Space Probiotics for Vitamin D Production using Synthetic Biology " at IIT Kanpur.
Minimum Academic Qualification
- M.Tech/ME/MSc/B.Tech/BE degree in Biotechnology / Biosciences / Biochemistry / Microbiology / Bioengineering / Biophysics or any relevant discipline.
Desirable Experience
- Strong background in molecular biology and synthetic biology, including gene cloning, plasmid construction, and promoter or regulatory sequence design.
- Hands-on experience with bacterial or mammalian cell culture, transformation, and reporter-based characterization (e.g., fluorescence or luminescence assays).
- Familiarity with qPCR, Reverse Transcription PCR, Western blotting, ELISA, and microscopy techniques for gene expression analysis.
- Familiarity with cytochrome P450 expression, cofactor-linked reactions, and metabolic engineering workflows.
- Experience with HPLC/LC-MS, ELISA, or biochemical assays for metabolite quantification.
- Knowledge of encapsulation techniques, probiotic stability assays, or gut-simulation culture systems is an added advantage
- Working knowledge of biochemical assay development and data analysis using standard laboratory tools.
