Position: Senior Project Engineer, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur.

Applications are invited from dynamic, motivated candidates with a strong interest in and/or experience in medical device development to work on the development of the Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) under the institute's flagship project, Mission Hridyantra.

Essential qualifications:

1. Ph.D. (Engineering Stream)

OR

M.E./M. Tech. in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

OR

B.Tech. in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

2. Research and/or product design and development experience in:

  • Power electronics
  • Electrical motor design, e.g., 2/3-phase small BLDC motor
  • PCB design using Eagle/Altium or similar software
  • Control electronics and embedded systems.

3. Hands-on experience in:

  • Motor and electronics testing and debugging
  • Conceptualisation and design of experiments
  • Data analysis, interpretation, and presentation

Desirable qualifications:

  1. Experience in medical device development and knowledge of the biomedical product lifecycle.
  2. Proficient in software tools such as LT Spice and STM32cubeIDE.
  3. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and collaborative research environment.

Term of Appointment: 1 year, which can be extended based on performance.

Salary Range:

  • INR 38800-3200-96400 per month (consolidated).
  • A higher starting salary may be considered for exceptionally qualified/experienced candidates as per IIT Kanpur norms.
