
Mr. Deepak Devraj (BT/EE/1970) is the managing director of private investment firm Rush Brook Partners in the US. He is also the Founder and Managing Director of the New Jersey-based private investment firm, Raj Associates with investments in real estate and public and private securities. Mr. Devraj work experience also includes 24 years at Merrill Lynch managing a team of 700 investment professionals and he retired as senior vice president and a member of the firm's executive management committee. Mr. Devraj also serves on Pratham USA's board of directors. On being appointed as the director of Pratham, USA, Mr. Devraj said, "For two decades, Pratham has been singularly focused on improving the quality of education for India's poor. I believe it represents our single brightest hope for educating India's children, and I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to help Pratham achieve its mission to have 'every child in school and learning well.'" He is also the Founder of the Raj Center on Indian Economic Policies at Columbia University. Post his graduation from IITK in Electrical Engineering, he earned his MBA from Northeastern University, Boston.
Mr. Devraj set up Shri Deva Raj Chair in his father's name and it is open to all departments of science & engineering.
Prof. Debajyoti Paul from the Department of Earth Sciences, IIT Kanpur. His research focuses on understanding the dynamic processes that shape the evolution of the Indian Shield, its landscape, and Quaternary climate. Utilizing advanced analytical techniques, his work spans chemical geodynamics of the crust-mantle system, estimation of the composition of Indian shales, growth rates of continental crust, origins of large-scale volcanic eruptions such as the Deccan and Rajmahal Traps, and reconstruction of paleoclimate and paleovegetation patterns in India. His interdisciplinary studies also extend to atmospheric science, including the quantification of carbonaceous aerosol sources using stable isotope analyses. He has received a Ph.D. from Cornell University, USA, and his postdoctoral research from the Max-Planck-Institut fur Chemie, Mainz, Germany.
Prof. Malay Banerjee, Department of Mathematics and Statistics , research interests are Non-Linear Dynamics, Mathematical Ecology, Reaction-Diffusion Equations and Spatio-temporal Pattern Formation, Stochastic Differential Equation Models of Ecology, Delay Differential Equation Models of Biological Systems, Epidemiology. He earned his doctorate from University of Calcutta, Kolkata in 2005.
