A Timely Gift, A Stronger Future

Coming from a small farming family in rural Uttar Pradesh, Anshika knew early what financial uncertainty felt like. While a tuition fee waiver helped her enter IIT Kanpur, daily expenses like mess bills, electricity charges, and a failing laptop became overwhelming. At a critical moment, alumni support arrived. Pending dues were cleared, her laptop was repaired, and for the first time in months, Anshika could focus fully on her academics and placement preparation. This timely support restored not just stability, but confidence. Inspired by alumni generosity, she now dreams of giving back just as she was supported.

When Team Aerial Robotics qualified for the global finals at ICUAS 2025 in the United States, travel costs stood between them and the world stage. Alumni stepped in. With support from the IITK Alumni Association (Outer Delhi Chapter), the team represented IIT Kanpur internationally and returned as global winners. Competing against top teams from across continents, their first-place finish showcased what becomes possible when alumni invest in student ambition. This victory is a powerful reminder: alumni support doesn't just fund travel, it fuels global excellence and institutional pride.

Gaurav Swarnkar's journey in para-athletics is defined by determination and strengthened by support. With financial assistance from the Cell for Differently Abled Persons (CDAP), Gaurav accessed training and competition opportunities that transformed effort into achievement. His medals at state and national para-athletics championships stand as proof of what targeted support can unlock. Alumni and institutional backing helped convert talent into podium finishes, reinforcing a powerful truth: when barriers are removed, potential rises. My five years as a BTech student from 1977 to 1982 provided a strong foundation for my subsequent achievements. One enduring memory is of my roommate during the first three years, who, despite coming from a humble rural background, cleared the JEE through his own efforts. Fortunately, tuition and hostel fees were very nominal at that time. With a merit cum means scholarship, he graduated with good grades and is now well-settled abroad. Today, tuition fees and other expenses are beyond the reach of many deserving students. Helping such students is my primary motivation to give back to IITK.
