Faculty

• IIT Kanpur has a strength of 300 faculty members and it is proposed to increase the strength to 500 over a period of next seven years.Faculty at IIT Kanpur has degrees from renowned colleges from india and abroad several from IIT Kanpur itself.
• Dual academic citizenship : It is proposed to invite faculty members from around the world to have joint appointment with IIT Kanpur. These faculty will spend some time at IIT Kanpur, guide students, deliver special lectures and bring sponsored research funding to support the laboratory activities. The association of such eminent persons will bring new environment of research.
• The Faculty here is involved in cutting-edge research both in the industry and within IIT Kanpur itself.
• The Faculty here holds positions as varied as editors of various international journals, visiting faculty in many universities, advisors to government and industry.
• The contribution of the Faculty has been recognized frequently and have been honored with several awards like the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar award .
• Endowed Chair Professor: This is an initiative taken by IIT Kanpur to provide some incentive/award/appreciation for meritorious professors.
