Tapobrata Sarkar


Ph.D. (Inst. Math. Sci, Chennai,  2001) ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

Dr.  Tapobrata Sarkar joined the Department in 2004. He obtained his doctoral degree at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai, working under the supervision of Professor T. Jayaraman. Subsequently he carried out postdoctoral research at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai and the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy.

He is a theoretical High Energy physicist, whose chief interest lies in String Theories and Quantum Gravity. Currently, he is working on some aspects of closed string tachyon condensation and its relation to singularity resolution in string theory. Dr. Sarkar is also interested in topological string theories and some aspects of spacelike branes.
