Pankaj Jain

Ph.D. (Syracuse University 1988) PROFESSOR

Dr. Pankaj Jain joined the Department in 1995.  He obtained his doctoral degree from Syracuse University, USA working under the supervision of Prof. Joseph Schechter. Subsequently he carried out postdoctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA,  at the West Virginia University, USA, at  Kansas University, USA, and at Oklahoma University, USA.

He is a theoretical High Energy/ Nuclear Physicist, whose chief interest lies in Strong Interactions. Currently, he is working on Hadronic Excusive Processes, Ultra-hHgh Energy Cosmic rays, Cosmic Birefrengence and Low-Scale Quantum Gravity.  Dr. Jain is also interested in Astrophysics, Optics and Atmospheric Physics.

Apart from core courses, he has offered electives like Physics of the Universe, Atmospheric Physics and Particle Physics (Introductory and Advanced).
