Deshdeep Sahdev

Ph.D. (Case Western  Reserve University 1979) PROFESSOR

Dr. Deshdeep Sahdev joined the Department in 1989.  He obtained his doctoral degree from Case Western Reserve University, USA working under the supervision of Prof. Robert W. Brown. Subsequently he carried out postdoctoral research at Cornell University, USA, at the University of Pennsylvania, USA, at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ASICTP) , Trieste, Italy and at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai.

He is a theoretical High Energy Physicist, whose chief interest lies in Cosmology. Currently, he is working on the physics of Closed Timelike Curves. Dr. Sahdev has also worked on Radiation Zeroes (of which he is a co-discoverer), Higher-dimensional Cosmologies (which he in-part pioneered), Infinite-dimensional Gauge Theories, Computational Physics and the Nonlinear dynamics of Josephson junction arrays.

Apart from core courses, he has offered electives like Quantum Field Theory, Advanced StatisticalMechanics, Advanced Condensed Matter Physics and Design of a Quantum Mechanics Laboratory
