Office of Faculty Affairs Overview (OFA)
All matters related to the recruitment and establishment of faculty members and other academic staff comes under the purview of the OFA. Sanction of leave, foreign travel and LTC, issue of service certificates, issue of ‘No Objection Certificates’ (NOC) for passport etc. are issued by the DOFA office. In addition, OFA coordinates a variety of activities associated with faculty recruitment, promotions and academic activities at IIT Kanpur. Major roles of the OFA are as mentioned below:
1. Faculty Affairs is involved in the recruitment of faculty members for different departments of the Institute. Faculty Affairs also contributes in the selection of Academic Staff.
2. Selection Procedures with regard to different chair positions and research fellowships are evolved and adhered to by the OFA.
3. The OFA deals with the appointments of (Overseas) Visiting Faculty, Adjunct Faculty, Emeritus Professor and Emeritus Fellows .
4. Other roles pertain to
     Confirmation, Re-employment, Extension ,
     Sanction of different types of leaves, FST, Sabbatical, and Deputation,
     Retirement and pension related documentation and issuing of pension orders,
     Pay and perks to Faculty Members, which includes fixation and upgradation,
     Regulating different Meetings: DFAC/IFAC, Standing Committee, and Selection Committees,
     Faculty Benefits and Services,
     Maintaining all service records related to academic staff.
