Search Toolbar with Desktop Search
This has various functions. One, it provides tabbed browsing on
Internet Explorer. Two, it provides a very fantastic desktop search.
I have used it personally and was just amazed by its performance. So
thought to share with you.
TO install download from our ftp server
http://www.iitk.ac.in/nt/ftp
and search for "Toolbar"
Install MSN Search Toolbar first. While installing please select
options carefully on what you will be using it to search for: like
email and documents, emails only and where you will want it to
search, like My Documents only or full harddisk
Please note that it will take around 12 hours to index your hard
disk, so you will be able to use it after a day of installation only
You may also like to install the Adobe plug-in (so that you can
search in the contents of pdf documents too!
There are many other plug-ins available and possibly you will be
redirected to the site upon completion of install.

Cleartype - For LCD users
Cleartype is a utility from Microsoft which helps to tune your
LCD display for better readability. First configure your display as
follows:
For 15 inch:
Use 1024x768 resolution at max color depth @75 Hz
For 17 inch:
Use 1280x1024 resolution at max color depth @60 Hz
Then install cleartype. Go to
http://www.iitk.ac.in/cc/windows/ftp and search for "cleartype"
and download and install it. Next go to control panel and enable
cleartype and answer the simple questions it asks. See the
difference yourself!!
Press the Auto button on your LCD display to improve it further.
