e-conference on Indian Seismic Codes
(January 26 - February 8, 2002)
Recent Indian earthquakes have brought the seismic vulnerability of our modern cities and civil infrastructure in focus. As you are aware, that structural design codes play a very vital role in ensuring the construction of safe structures. It is very important that not only these codes reflect the state-of-the-knowledge, but also they are fully understood for the proper implementation.
January 26, 2002, the first anniversary of the Bhuj earthquake, NICEE (National
Information Centre of Earthquake Engineering) will host a two-week
e-conference on Indian Seismic Codes (IS:1893 and IS:13920). It is hoped
that the participants will share their concerns, knowledge and experience with
fellow professionals. This e-conference is targeted at civil engineers involved
in design and construction. The e-conference is free to participants and they
only need to have an access to e-mail and preferably to the Web for
browsing resource materials.
The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Durgesh C Rai of IIT Kanpur and Ms. Alpa Sheth of M/S Vakil, Mehta and Sheth Consulting Engineers, Bombay. Those interested in registering for e-conference please register here. Those who have already registered with NICEE did not register again.
