Prof. Kashinath Eknath Hole (Prof. K. E. Hole)
(1942 - 2020)

Professor Kashinath Eknath Hole (Prof. K. E. Hole) was born in 1942. He completed his Ph. D at IIT Kanpur, 1973, under Prof Agashe, M. Tech. at IIT Kanpur, 1969 and B. E. (Electrical Engineering at Nagpur University, 1963.


He joined the Institute (IIT Kanpur) as a Lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering in 1975. He then served as an Assistant Professor, from 1979 and as a Professor from 1988. He retired from service in 2004.


He had a pleasing personality, and was a popular faculty member in the control systems area. Prof. Hole was actively involved in establishing the IEEE UP Section in the early 90’s.


On the personal front he had a smiling face with a self effacing personality that would not have ever offended anyone at IITK. He came from a farmers' family and did some farming himself in his growing years. He drove an Old Lambretta scooter till his retirement.


He was living with his family in Nashik after retirement, having quite good health and suddenly got Cardiac arrest on 29 Aug 2020. He has left behind his wife Kumud, younger daughter Anjali and her family, staying in Nashik, and elder daughter Rashmi & her family, residing abroad.


Deepest condolences to his family members, on behalf of the EE Department, IIT Kanpur. Prayers to the Almighty to give strength to his Family. May his soul rest in peace.
