Essential Qualifications: Ph.D. in Engineering / Science from
reputed institutions.

General Information regarding Prospective Postdoctoral Fellows

The post-doctoral candidates are expected to pursue collaborative research projects under the direction of a departmental faculty member. In addition, the post-doctoral fellows may also participate in some department-related activities. The positions are purely temporary. The appointment will be for a period of one year.

  1. Duration of Appointment: Appointment will be made initially for one year and it may be extended subject to satisfactory performance. Under no circumstances the fellowship duration can exceed three years.
  2. The fellowship amount will be Rs. 50,000/- per month for the first year, Rs. 55,000/- per month for the second year, and Rs. 60,000/- per month for the third year. The candidate will also get a travel and contingency amount of Rs. 1,00,000/- per year.
  3. A post-doctoral fellow shall be eligible to apply for the INSPIRE (hyperlink http://www.online-inspire.gov.in) Faculty scheme of the Department of Science and Technology through the Institutional Mode. In addition to the research work, the duties of the post-doctoral fellows will involve teaching laboratory and/or tutorial classes up to 8 hours per week.
  4. Medical benefits and other campus facilities will be the same as those of the registered students of IIT Kanpur.
  5. Post doctoral fellows will be provided suitable accommodation in the campus as per availability. They will also be eligible for accommodation in the students' hostels. In case accommodations cannot be provided, HRA will be given as per rules.
  6. Leave rules for post doctoral fellows will be same as the leave rules of PG students.
  7. Periodical reviews of the performance of the selected candidates will be conducted for the continuation of the fellowship.
