Confluence Summary

CT2008, Tomography Confluence, was organized during February 15-17, 2008 at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. It was a mixed blend of a conference and a workshop. There were 70 participants (from various universities, R&D Laboratories and industry) from India and abroad.

It was a meeting of experts working in the field of tomography from major CT groups in India and 13 foreign delegates from Brazil, Germany, Japan, Norway, UK and USA. All aspects (theory, numerics, experiments) were covered with as many 20 keynote lectures in three days. These talks incorporated diverse CT instrumentation (e.g. gamma-ray, x-ray, laser, ultrasonic, microwave and electrical impedance) reflecting cutting edge technology and new horizons in tomography research.

A few contributed papers were also included. There were 14 poster presentations on the second day of confluence. Graduate students of IIT Kanpur presented their research work and undergraduate students presented awareness posters on recent trends on tomography.

This Confluence, the third in the series, ended with a hope of meeting again after four years with state-of-the-art applications and technologies.
