Additional Documents to be submitted along with the PhD Application Form

 1. Statement of Research (1-2 pages):
     Please provide your intended area of research outlining how your past research activities (if any) and future career goals      match with your proposed research topic.

 2. A brief Abstract of Master's thesis / Bachelor's project (1 page):

     Please provide a brief summary of your past major research activities towards your Master's thesis and / or Bachelor's      degree projects.

 3. Two Letters of Recommendation from persons who can evaluate the candidate's ability for higher studies. Use

     Reference Form and ask the recommendors to elaborate on Item no. 5 of the form. Use additional sheets as needed.

Evaluation will be based on overall performance, preparedness, and suitability of the candidate to IITK-M's research and PhD programme.The criterion will include, but will not be limited to the following :

1. Academic performance:

    - Master's / Bachelor's degree performance.

    - GATE score and any other public examination results to substantiate candidate's academic credentials.

    - Any other academic achievements.

2. Acumen for PhD studies:

    - Statement of Research.

    - Master's / Bachelor's degree thesis / major project work.

    - Recommendations.

    - Research papers / reports written / published etc.

3. IITK Evaluation:

    - Performance during interview.

    - Suitability of candidate's interest with interest of faculty members at ME, IITK.
