Prof. Deb has been awarded the "IEEE Fellow" for his contributions to evolutionary multi-criterion optimization techniques. Being a Fellow is one of the most prestigious honours granted by the IEEE to its members. No more than one tenth of the 1% of its voting members can receive this distinction each year.

Prof. Deb has been awarded the 'Infosys
Prize in Engineering and Computer Science' from
Infosys Science Foundation, Bangalore, India for his contributions to the
emerging field of Evolutionary Multi-objective Optimization (EMO) that has led
to advances in non-linear constraints, decision uncertainty, programming and
numerical methods, computational efficiency of large-scale problems and
optimization algorithms. The award giving ceremony took place on 9
January 2012 in Bangalore.
| Prof. Deb has been awarded
'J. C. Bose Fellowship' from
Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology,
Government of India for his "Active outstanding performance and contribution
to science".

Prof. Deb has been awarded 'V Cajastur Mamdani Prize for
Soft Computing' from
European Centre for Soft Computing, Spain in consideration for his contributions to
the Development and Application of Evolutionary Multi-objective Optimization.
The prize was given in a ceremony at ECSC, Mieres, Spain on 1 December 2011.

Prof. Deb received the 'Distinguished Alumnus Award'
from his alma mater Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. (August 2011).

Prof. Deb and Sunith Bandaru's paper on 'Higher and
Lower-level Innovization' received the Best Paper Award at the
MCDM-2011
conference held in Jyvaskyla, Finland during June 13-17, 2011.

Prof. Deb received 'VELUX Foundation Guest
Professorship' at Technical University of Denmark (DTU) for 2011-12.

Prof. Deb received 'Gurmukh and Veena Mehta
Endowed Chair Professor' position from IIT Kanpur, 2011-2014.

Prof. Deb has been appointed as an 'Adjunct
Professsor' at the Deparment of Information and Service Economy, Aalto
University School of Economics, Finland, 2010-2013.

Prof. Deb's IEEE TEC (2002) paper entitled 'A fast
and elitist multiobjective genetic algorithm: NSGA-II' is declared
a Current Classic in the field of Engineering by Thomson Reuters. This paper is also judged as the 'Most highly cited paper in the field of Engineering for June 2010 " by Thomson Reuters Scientific's Essential Science Indicators.

International Multiple Criterion Decision Making (MCDM)
Society confers the 2008 'MCDM
Edgeworth-Pareto Award' to Prof. Deb. The award was given on 10 January
2008 in Auckland, NZ.

Prof. Deb received 'Thomson Citation Laureate Award' for having highest citations among all computer science researchers in India during 1996-2005 by Thomson Scientific on 27
July 2006 in Bangalore. Click
