| Directions
is a research publication of the Institute that
aims at presenting original contributions of the
faculty in a consolidated manner. It is a platform
that reflects upon the ongoing research and development
activities, major achievements, and evolving trends.
The magazine is a voice of the Institute's scientific
community, indeed an expression of their ideas.
It symbolizes the spirit of collective endeavor
guiding the Institute to confront the challenges
of the present and define the shape of the future.
A typical issue of the magazine
would focus on a particular area of science and
technology with articles written by the faculty
and research staff. These articles are written
in a journalistic tone for the peer group –
readability and accessibility being important
parameters. The articles contain a survey of the
subject as a whole and the extent of contributions
recorded by the Institute faculty along with students
who participate so extensively in research.
The readership of Directions
is intended to be industry leaders, government
officials and policy makers, and, of course, potential
research collaborators. The magazine is also read
by students quite intensely. It is an acknowledged
source of influence in their career choices and
preferences. Above all, the publication gives
the writers of each of the articles an opportunity
to summarize and evaluate the impact of their
research and thus infuse a level of dynamism in
their thought process.
