The Institute is organised into 9 Engineering departments, along with individual departments for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Humanities.

In addition it has 5 centres and 5 inter-disciplinary programmes. Most of the Engineering departments offer B.Tech., M.Tech. and Ph.D. degrees. The inter-disciplinary programmes also offer M.Tech. and in some cases Ph.D. also.

The Science departments offer M.Sc. and Ph.D. while the Humanities & Social Science department offers Ph.D.

All departments, centres and inter-disciplinary programmes have their own laboratory facilities.
