Cultural Diversity

The rich cultural diversity of India is reflected in IIT-Kanpur. The faculty and students of the Institute come from different backgrounds making IIT-Kanpur a true mini-India. There are various regional associations, which provide the much-needed homely feeling, particularly to new students. These associations are:

  • Andhra Association
  • Bangiya Samiti
  • Kannada Association
  • Maharashtra Mandal
  • Tamil Manram

  • These associations organize and celebrate various cultural events from time-to-time, in which people from within and outside the community participate. There are other clubs and associations. The student gymkhana organizes three annual festivals:
    • Antaragni: The Cultural Festival
    • Techkriti: The Technological Festival
    • Udghosh: The Sports Festival
The Students' Film Society regularly screens films in the auditorium as well as lecture hall complex.

There are various clubs which have active participation from the students. The faculty has its own club, there also is a Women's association.
