Prof. Manindra Agrawal gets Clay Research Award

 

Prof. Manindra Agrawal has been awarded the Clay Research Award given by the Clay Mathematical Institute for his recent contribution to the area of prime numbers. He and his students made a breakthrough in developing an algorithm that checks the primality of a number.

This year's awardees also include Vladimir Voedoevsky (2002 Fields medalist). The award was presented on 30th Oct. 2002 at American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Previous awardees include Adrew Wiles (proved Fermat' s conjecture), Laurent Lafforgue(2002 Fields medalist), Alain Connes (1982 Fields medalist), Edward Witten (1990 Fields medalist).
