AWARDS AND HONOURS

Today, the Institute is going through some of the most delicate moments of transition in its 38 year history. In spite of trying circumstances, faculty members and students of IIT Kanpur remain determined to succeed. Some of them have been decorated for this dedication in their respective fields. Playing an exemplary role is none other than Professor K A Padmanabhan, the Director of IIT Kanpur. Here is a list for 1998:

S G Dhande, Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering: Fellow of Maharashtra Academy of Sciences for sustained and excellent academic pursuits

Divyesh Dixit, B.Tech. (1998), Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering: Vidya Bharati Award 1998 from The Indian Institute of Metals for being one of the best graduating students in Metallurgy in engineering colleges all over India

M K Kadalbajoo, Professor, Department of Mathematics: C.L. Chandna Mathematics Award 1998 for distinguished and outstanding contributions to mathematical research and teaching

G K Lal, Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering: Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineers
