Abstract

Technological innovations are now the heart and blood of the finance industry. Financial Technology seeks to improve the delivery of automated financial services, often using niche services that bridge the gap of specific financial needs. It is usurping entrenched traditional industry services, and conventional practices like guesswork and habit have become a thing of the past. A whole lot of core integrated services are unbundled to individual offerings that have created a handful of opportunities in B2B, B2C for small businesses, business clients, and consumers. To understand more about how organizations are adapting to this unorthodox tech, MBA, IIT Kanpur is excited to host Mr. Sameer Vachhani, Associate Director-Consulting, HighRadius, for the 14th episode of K-aleidoscope to discuss the topic: ‘FinTech in India: Weapon of mass inclusion.’

Mr. Sameer has over ten years of experience across Program Management, Cloud Consulting, and Implementation. He successfully managed large programs for fortune 1000 companies within the Fintech space, helping clients in their business transformation journey. During his last two stints(with Services and SaaS-based companies), his primary focus has been on Receivables automation, which has a multi-billion dollar market potential. His work life is evidence of high interpersonal skills, ability to steer through challenges, and possession of an excellent understanding of the Financial Supply Chain domain. He is a passionate objective-driven professional who believes in going over and beyond to achieve client and employer goals.

Abstract

"On May 12, 2020, in his address to the nation, Indian prime minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, coined the term ""Atmanirbhar Bharat"" or ""Self-Reliant India"" and emphasized that it was time for India to commit to our local products and make them global. As the world struggles with the pandemic, India is attempting to salvage this crisis and turn it into an opportunity. This has led to a strong pull for Indian innovators to meet nationwide demand for high quality and affordable solutions, whether in healthcare, agriculture, education, or infrastructure. It is no secret that India as a country is technologically behind nations such as the US, China, and European Nations who have a massive head start and insurmountable domain leadership. The independent capabilities in electric and fuel cell vehicles, power storage systems, solar cells and modules, aircraft including UAVs, AI, robotics and automation, biotechnology/pharmaceuticals, and others, however, are well within India’s grasp. The importance of this movement cannot be denied, but there are some worrying questions. Is this movement dynamic in encapsulating all the variables in the picture? Will it remain static for years post this current predicament? The success of this movement depends on how we handle these questions, and it will be important to see how businesses and industries plan to contribute to this movement."
