Admission Procedure and Cutoffs
The admissions are through a Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the IIMs and followed by Group Discussion/Personal Interaction (GD/PI). Kindly note that JMET stands discountinued from this year onwards.
The candidates need to apply to IME Department of IIT Kanpur separately.
The application forms for MBA admissions of IME Department at IIT Kanpur is available . The advertisement for the same has been published in major newspapers on 9-01-12. The price of the application form is Rs. 1500 for the General and OBC candidates, Rs. 750 for those belonging to SC/ST and Physically Handicapped categories. No application fee is needed for the girl applicants. Fee is to be paid through a demand draft made in the name of Registrar, IIT Kanpur payable at Kanpur. You will attach this draft with your application form and mail it to the address provided on the application website. Go to the online application site for futher details.
Any candidate who has taken the CAT-2011 examination may apply provided he/she meets the following minimum eligibility criteria. The eligibility criteria is the same as their respective category for the Physically Challenged candidates.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria
1. General and OBC Candidates
a) Requires B. Tech, B. Sc Engineering, B.E or B. Arch (Mathematics in Class XII) with aggregate of 65% or a CPI of 6.5 on a scale of 10 from any AICTE recognized institute/university, IITs, NITs, and IIITs.
b) 65% and above in Class X and Class XII examinations
c) Overall CAT 2011 score of 85 percentile and above
d) Cutoff: 93.0 percentile for General category students
d) Cutoff: 85.0 percentile for OBC (non-creamy) category students
2. SC and ST Candidates
a) Requires B. Tech, B. Sc Engineering, B.E or B. Arch (Mathematics in Class XII) with aggregate of 55% or a CPI of 5.5 on a scale of 10 from any AICTE recognized institute/university, IITs, NITs, and IIITs.
b) 55% and above in Class X and Class XII examinations
c) Overall CAT 2011 score of 75 percentile and above
d) Cutoff: 75.0 percentile

A. Yes.
Step1:Yes, a separate online form has to be filled for MBA at IIT Kanpur available .
Step2: The filled in printed application form along with the desired documents and DD has to be sent to the following address before the deadline.

Step3: The screened candidates will then go through a personal interaction process in the form of a GD (Group Discussion) before final selection. This will happen between 30-03-2012 and 3-04-2012. The exact date will be intimated to the qualified candidates at least 15 days in advance.

A. We will need the work experience certificate / NOC from the employer at the time of final admission to the course. In the meantime, you can send copies of your first and last salary slips.

Q.8 Should the documents being submitted with the application form be self - attested or by a gazetted officer ?
A. as far as possible the documents should be attested either by college authorities or by a gazetted officer.

Q.9 If I have done diploma course after class 10th and not done class 12th, can I submit the marks obtained in Diploma instead of class 12th marks ?
A. Yes, you can.

Q.10 If I do not have the final year mark sheets / certificate at the time of filling the application form, can I submit these later ?
A.Yes, the final year mark sheets / certificate can be provided at the time of final admission to the course, if selected.
