The Ph.D. programme of the Department is offered in the following disciplines: Economics, English Literature and Linguistics, Philosophy, Psychology, and Sociology.
 
The essential qualifications for being considered for admission include at least 55% marks or a CPI of 5.5 (on a 10-point scale) at the MA/B.Tech. level.The candidate should have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) within the last five years or have a valid GATE score.

Admissions are made round the year. Prospective students are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Applications made on plain paper or electronically are accepted.

The next round of interview will be in the beginning of May, 2012 and the last date for receiving the applications is April 16th, 2012.
