
In 2002, the IIT Kanpur team consisting of
three Junior Undergraduate students from the Department of
Electrical Engineering won the Microsoft Innovation Award
as an acknowledgement for its technical merit and imaginative
thinking for their project, "Intelligent
Intensive Care Unit".
The goal of the Third Annual
Computer Society International Design Competition
(CSIDC) was to advance excellence in education by having student
teams design and implement computer-based solutions to real-world
problems.
The team members were awarded a certificate,
plaque and $5000 cash award.

Kanpur wins Microsoft Innovation Award

This year's CSIDC also includes the Microsoft Award for
Innovation, which debuted at CSIDC 2001. The prize is given
to the team that did not qualify for the final ten, but the
judges felt deserved acknowledgement for its technical merit.
This year's winner is the Indian Institute of Technology,
Kanpur (India), for their project, "Intelligent Intensive
Care Unit". Their mentor and one team member will be
invited to the World Finals to receive this prize.
