Alumni Day Functions was held on March 25, 2006 at IIT Kanpur:

10:00 AM in L-7: Inauguration of Alumni Day was followed by the 23rd Kelkar Alumni Lecture by Mr Arvind Kejriwal, Founder of Parivartan, on "Right to Information- a tool for holding Government accountable".

5:00 pm - High Tea in LHC Foyer was followed by Distinguished Alumnus Award and the Satyendra K Dubey Memorial Award ceremony in L-7. The DAA awardees Mr Abhay Bhushan, Mr Pawan Kumar, Mr Pradeep Jotwani, Prof Umesh Mishra had attended the ceremony, as is the SKD awardee, Mr Kejriwal. About the Speaker: Mr. Arvind Kejriwal

Mr. Arvind Kejriwal was born in Hissar in Haryana. After graduating from IIT, he joined Tata Steel. In 1992, he joined the Indian Revenue Service and was posted in Income-tax Commissioner's Office in Delhi. He, with others, started “Parivartan” [Change] to bring in transparency in the working of government & public institutions. Because of the efforts of Parivartan, the Income Tax Department has adopted measures to bring transparency in its dealings with the public. Further, at the instance of Parivartan, Government of NCT of Delhi has taken steps to clean up the PDS in Delhi.

Mr. Arvind Kejriwal has been conferred with the Satyendra K. Dubey Memorial Award of IIT Kanpur for his campaign for bringing transparency in the working of government & public institutions and for getting the Right to Information bill passed for the benefit of society at large.
