S. C. Srivastava (born on 13th November 1955) received B.Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University Varanasi, India in 1976 and stood first in the Institute. He joined Engineers India Limited (EIL) New Delhi, a consultancy organization, in November 1976 and worked for 12 years in its Project Engineering and Engineering Technology Development Divisions. While working in EIL, he completed Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India in 1987. In November 1988, he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur as faculty member, where he is currently at the position of ‘Professor’.

He has also been a faculty member at Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand during January 1996 to December 1997, Visiting Professor in the ECE Dept. at University of Western Ontario, Canada during May-June 2005 and, Visiting Research Professor in ECE Dept. at Mississippi State University, USA from Aug. 2008 till July 2009.

He served as Head of Electrical Engineering Department during January 2000 to December 2002 and Dean of Research and Development at IIT Kanpur during January 2005-January 2008. He has served as the member of the Advisory Committee of power Industries, State Regulatory Commission and Utilities in India and also member of Governing Council of CPRI Bangalore.

He has supervised 15 Ph.D. and more than 50 M.Tech students in the Power Systems area. He has published about 200 papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings.

His research interests include Power System Dynamics & Voltage Stability, Wide Area Monitoring Systems, Security Analysis & Power System Restructuring.

He is Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), Institution of Engineers (India) & The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers IETE (India), and Senior member of the IEEE. He is serving as member in the Editorial Board of the ‘International Journal of Emerging Electric Power Systems (IJEEPS)’ (Berkley Electronic Press) and the ‘International Journal of Power and Energy Systems’ (ACTA Press). He is also Editor of the International Series on ‘Power & Energy’ published by Narosa publishers, New Delhi, India.
