Dr. Ashok Mittal is currently
MHRD IPR Professor of Intellectual Property Rights in Industrial
and Management Engineering Department at the Indian Institute
of technology Kanpur. He was educated in Mechanical Engineering
from IIT Kharagpur and did his graduate studies in Operations
Research from Case Western Reserve University. In addition
to being on the faculty at Kanpur since 1975, he has been
visiting faculty at the Kellogg School of Management in Northwestern
University, Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok, and
MUST in Babol, Iran. He has served as Head of the Industrial
and Management Engineering Department, Dean of Planning and
Resource Generation, and Dean of Research and Development
at IIT Kanpur. His other administrative experience at IIT
Kanpur has included tenures as Chairman Space Planning and
Allocation Committee, Chairman Office automation Committee
and Convener Senate Education Policy Committee, among several
others. He has had extensive teaching and research experience
in both academic and industrial settings in India. His research
interests are in Operations Research, Operations Management,
and Intellectual Property Rights. He is a fellow of the Institution
of Engineers in India , member of the Operations Research
Society of USA, a Senior Member of the Operational Research
Society of India. His administrative roles in professional
societies have included among others, being President ORSI
India (2007-2008), Director of the Board of Quality Circle
Forum in India and vice President, and Member of the Board
of several Institutes in India.
Research on Patent Mapping
A search engine which permits
text mining and image mining of Patents document is developed
as a Project funded by Ministry of Communication and Technology
IPR cell. The facility can be used by any one after registration
