Department of Materials Science & Engineering

Applications are invited for the positions of RA and SRF under the project entitled “Microstructural and Tribological Characterization of Stainless Steel 316L obtained by Modulated Machining” under DAE/ BRNS.

Minimum Qualifications:
RA: PhD or M.Tech + 2 years experience
SRF: M.Tech. or B.Tech. + 2years experience

Desired Qualification:
It is desired that the candidate should have strong background in physical metallurgy. It is desirable that candidate has B.Tech and higher degree in Metallurgy and Mechanical related fields

 

Experience/ Higher Qualification:

  1. Candidate should have a strong metallurgical background and hands on research experience in one or more of: Thermomechanical processing of metals and alloys, SEM Characterization, Mechanical testing of materials, Machining.
  2. The research profile under this project includes microstructural characterization (using optical microscopy, SEM and TEM), Machining of metals and alloys, and Tribological characterization. Candidate having experience in these field would be preferred.
  3. The candidate is expected to be self-driven for conducting research and publishing his/her work in high quality scientific journals and conferences.
  4. The candidate should have demonstrated verbal and writing skills in communicating results of his/her own research.
  5. A good background in mathematics is preferred.
  6. Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.

 

Salary range:
RA: INR 36000/- (consolidated) + HRA (as per institute norms)
SRF: INR 28000/- (consolidated) + HRA (as per institute norms)
The position is temporary and Maximum for one year.
