Essential qualifications

PhD (Metallurgical Engineering) in the field of Friction Stir Welding with B.Tech and MTech in Materials and Metallurgical Engg. with significant experience.

Essential Experience

A minimum of 5 year industrial experience in metallurgical industry with research experience on industry sponsored projects.
Expertise in following areas is desired-

  • Age hardenable aluminum alloys-physical metallurgy, FSW/P.
  • Deformation texture in fcc metals-experimental as well as modeling
  • DSC, SEM, XRD, TEM and EBSD analysis
  • Strength modeling in aluminum alloys
  • Tensile and fatigue properties of materials
  • FSW/P machine operation.

Project Executive Officer
Technology transfer activities
Planning and execution of friction stir welding and processing related work on age hardenable aluminum alloys. Characterization and modeling of microstructure, texture and mechanical properties of friction stir welds. Development of tools and methods for industry scale application. The work will involve regular reporting and know how transfer to the industry.



The post is purely temporary and will be offered for a period of 1 year and renewal on satisfactory performance.
