MTech or ME in Civil/ Electronics and Communication/ Computer Science Engineering.Candidates with a good background Digital Image Processing/Pattern Recognition for Remote Sensing Imagery (both optical and SAR)

Candidates should have prior research experience in use of remote sensing techniques, related instruments and software with special emphasis on processing of Hyperspectral Imagery and SAR techniques in Interferometry and Polarimetry and in image processing.

Candidates should also have good mathematical skills and good programming skills in MATLAB, C/C++/Python and knowledge of remote sensing packages such as ENVI, ERDAS, ArcGIS, ILWIS and other relevant remote sensing and geospatial tools and equipment.

Project is sponsored by SERB titled Information fusion of Hyperspectral and other data sets for modeling of snow hydrological potential.

The project will involve processing of Hyperspectral imagery, Interferometric and Polarimetric SAR imagery and Multi-spectral imagery along with other sources of data for snow cover characterization, determination of snow hydrological potential and avalanche mapping.  The project will also involve field work during the winter season in glacier areas in Himachal Pradesh. The developed codes for this will be used to create a software package for snow analysis.
