Are you a dynamic and innovative mind in the fields of surface engineering and mechanical engineering? We are on the lookout for a talented individual to join the Hridyantrateam at IIT Kanpur for a ground-breaking project in the development of a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) - a revolutionary heart assist blood pump.

Position: Sr. Project Engineer        Location: IIT Kanpur

Salary Range: 38800 – 3200 - 96400

About the Project

Mission Hridyantra is at the forefront of developing a cutting-edge LVAD with the ultimate goal of launching it into the market following successful animal and clinical trials. As a team member, you will play a pivotal role in this ground-breaking endeavour, working alongside a highly skilled multidisciplinary team.

Essential Qualifications: Ph.D.* (Department of Mechanical Engineering),

Or M. Tech + 3 years relevant experience,

Or B. Tech with M.B.A. + 3 yearsrelevant experience,

Or B.Tech. + 5 years relevant experience.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in coating technology, surface characterization and tribo-mechanical tests.

Experience in CAD modelling and additive manufacturing (metal and polymers).

Experimental skills: mechanical tests and numerical simulations.

Desirable Skills:

Fundamental understanding of the interactions between blood and surfaces, with a basic knowledge of biocompatibility.

Understanding of in-vitro testing protocols.


Work closely with the team in the development of biocompatible surface for the LVAD.

Conductin-vitro tests with human blood.

Developing mock circulatory loops to be utilized in various test setups.

Contribute to LVAD development by actively engaging with the manufacturing team.

Participation in the multidisciplinary tasks associated with the LVAD.

Work closely with institute and industry mentors to ensure project success.
