Chair Positions and also FOUR Research Fellowship
for Outstanding Young Faculty:
Faculty Chairs:
1. Prof B.B. Lal Chair
2. Sri M. Visvesvaraya Chair for Water Resources
3. Sri Jagdeo Narain Gupta and Smt Murti Devi Gupta Chair
4. Prof C.V. Seshadri Chair
Research Fellowship for Outstanding Young Faculty (not
exceeding 40 years of age as on January 27, 2009):
- D. Shukla Research Fellowship for Outstanding Young Faculty
- Class of 1979 Research Fellowships for Outstanding Young Faculty
(2 nos.)
- Sri M. Visvesvaraya Research Fellowship for Outstanding Young
Faculty for Water Resources.
All the above chair positions are for the existing faculty members
at IITK.
The aim of these Chairs/ Fellowships is to recognize and honour
those faculty members who, through their work at IIT, have achieved
excellence.

B.B. Lal Chair isfor a faculty member who
has worked on science and technology related to archaeological
work.

Sri M. Visvesvarya Chair for Water Resource
and Sri M. Visvesvaraya Research Fellowship for Young Faculty
for water resources, with special emphasis on assessment of
the effect of climate change on water Resources, and adaptation
strategies in respect of planning, design and management of
water resources systems of Ganga basis, and other related issues
with the sector.

Sri Jagdeo Narain Gupta and Smt Murti Devi
Gupta Chair for faculty member on rotation basis, first of Chemical
Engineering Department and then Electrical Engineering Department.

Prof C.V. Seshadri Chair is for a faculty
members of Chemical Engineering Department.

D. Shukla Research Fellowship for outstanding
new faculty member of the Institute working in the area of energy/power
generation.

Class of 1979 Research Fellowship is for
an outstanding young Faculty member open to all the departments.
The period of occupation of a chair shall be for a period of three
years at a time.
Nominations are invited for all these Chairs/Research Fellowships
from:
(a) Faculty members (past or present) of IIT Kanpur
(b) Non IITK faculty members of the present Academic Senate,
(c) Members of BOG of IIT Kanpur.
Please send your nomination to DOFA in a hard-copy after obtaining
the consent of the person whom you’re nominating. An individual
is welcome to send more than one nomination. Please note that the
nominations are to be restricted to the faculty members of IIT Kanpur.
Nominations received will be acknowledged by DOFA.
