GENERAL INFORMATION:

Applications must be filled online, except for Departments of Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Material Science and Engineering. These three departments will accept both online and paper submission of applications. After filling in the online application, one has to take a print out and send it to the department concerned, along with all the certificates, photograph, and a draft for application fee. The list of attachments are provided on the application page (as well as in the paper application form for the three departments).

Financial assistance may be provided to students selected in M.Tech. and Ph.D. programmes.
The online applications page will be available from 18th March 2013, till 8th April 2013.
The printed application, along with all certificates and applications fee must be received by the departments latest by 11th April, 2013.

Separate application must be filled for each programme.

Reservations (for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PD shall apply as per Government of India rules. The certificate for the same must be in the format specified. The formats can be downloaded from the links below:

The application fee is Rs. 400 for General and OBC candidates, and Rs. 200 for SC/ST candidates and all PD candidates (including General and OBC). The fee must be paid through a demand draft payable to The Registrar, IIT Kanpur payable at Kanpur. Please keep the draft ready before starting to fill in the online application form.

FEE:

The tuition fee and other charges for 2013 have not been finalized yet. To get an idea of the costs, here is the link to 2012 fee structure.

Please note that all MTech students who get Institute Assistantship based on GATE score also get a fee waiver of Rs. 20,000 per semester. So the amount shown on the page will get reduced accordingly. Also, the amount includes Rs. 7,000 as various security deposits, Rs. 3,000 as Mess advance, and a little more than Rs. 3,000 as one time fees, including admission fees.

Part-time and External students pay the same fee as Sponsored students.
