Vision

As our world shrinks rapidly with technologies spreading freely without borders, people's demands get more complex and to resolve the newer complexities it calls for deep understanding in each relevant field or domain. It is only through extensive teamwork that one can understand an issue holistically. A designer works as a bridge between these diverse fields in such a team.

Design Programme at IIT Kanpur, is conceived as a centre for creative minds, which encourages students to bring in synthesis of varied knowledge domains to create innovative solutions towards the betterment of society. In short, Design Programme aspires to address social issues by developing and providing innovative design solutions through a multi-disciplinary approach. The environment encourages interactivity among students, faculty and industry.

Students at Design Programme come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Typically two third of the student body is from different engineering fields and the rest from architecture background. Everybody here has one thing in common - passion for design!
