Mr Sarvesh Pandey, PhD student in the group of Prof S Manogaran, has been awarded 1st Prize for Best Oral Presentation for his paper entitled "Quantification of Aromaticity Based on Interaction Coordinates: A New Approach" in National Symposium On Innovative Methods in Chemistry Education (IMCE-2015) And National Convention of Chemistry Teachers (NCCT-2015) organized by Department of Chemistry, University of Lucknow, Lucknow (October 8-10, 2015)

Professor Sandeep Verma has been elected as Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy

Professor Manas K. Ghorai has been elected as a Fellow of National Academy of Sciences, India (FNASc). This prestigious Fellowship is in recognition to his seminal contributions in developing concepts of memory of chirality, along with Lewis acid catalyses of activated aziridines and azetidines, via SN2 ring opening, to afford chiral intermediates for the synthesis of natural products.

Prof. Pradyut Ghosh, Department of Inorganic Chemistry, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata, has been selected for the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize 2015 in Chemical Sciences. Prof. Ghosh did his PhD in Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, in 1998 under Prof. P. K. Bharadwaj. The Department of Chemistry, IITK conveys its hearty congratulations to Prof. Ghosh on his remarkable success.

An article on 'Disposal of Chemical Waste in IIT Kanpur', by Prof. Jitendra K. Bera, (translated by Rajbhasha Cell, IIT Kanpur), published in August 2015 issue of 'Antas', has fetched an award under 'Technical Writing' category by 'Rajbhasha Seva Sansthan, New Delhi'. Prof. Amalendu Chandra has been selected for Endowed Chair Professorship by the Institute (2015). He will occupy the N. C. Nigam Chair for three years.

Prof. Manas K. Ghorai has been selected for Endowed Chair Professorship by the Institute (2015). He will occupy the USV Chair for three years.

Professor Y. D. Vankar has been conferred the Distinguished Teacher Award 2015, by IIT Kanpur. The award was presented to him on September 5 during the celebration of Teachers day.

Dr. Dattatraya H. Dethe and Dr. Pratik Sen have been selected for P. K. Kelkar Research Fellowship (Young Faculty Research fellowships) for a period of three years.

Prof. R. Gurunath (Section of Environmental Sciences), Prof. J. N. Moorthy (Section of Materials Sciences) and Prof. Sandeep Verma (Section of Chemical Sciences) have been selected to deliver the Platinum Jubilee Lecture at the 103rd Indian Science Congress to be held at University of Mysore, Mysuru, during January 3-7, 2016. The Platinum Jubilee Lectures were initiated in 1988 to commemorate 75th year of the inception of Indian Science Congress Association.

Prof. K. Srihari has been selected to receive Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI) Bronze Medal in recognition of his outstanding research contributions in chemistry.

Prof. Amalendu Chandra has been selected to receive the Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI) Silver Medal in recognition of his extensive and outstanding contributions to research in chemistry.

Prof. Jitendra K Bera has been selected for Department of Atomic Energy-Science Research Council (DAE-SRC) Outstanding Investigator Award-2014. This prestigious award is in recognition to his seminal contributions to Chemical Sciences.

Dr. D. H. Dethe has been selected for AVRA Young Scientist Award 2014, awarded by the A V Rama Rao Research Foundation, Hyderabad. This award is being bestowed for his significant research work in organic chemistry and total synthesis.

Prof. J. N. Moorthy has been selected for Endowed Chair Professorship by the Institute. He will occupy 'Dr. Jag Mohan Garg Chair' for a duration of 3 years. This is in recognition of his excellent contributions in a long and sustained manner at IIT Kanpur.

Prof. Jitendra Bera has been selected for Endowed Chair Professorship by the Institute. He will occupy 'Satish Chandra Agarwal Chair' for a duration of 3 years. This is in recognition of his excellent contributions in a long and sustained manner at IIT Kanpur.

Prof. J. N. Moorthy has been awarded the prestigious J. C. Bose fellowship from DST (2015).

Dr. Deo Prakash Tiwari who did Ph.D. with Porf. Manas K. Ghorai has been selected for the 1st Prize of "2014 Lilly Outstanding Thesis Awards". The award consists of USD 1500 and a plaque.

Dr. Biswajit Saha who did his Ph.D. with Prof. J. K. Bera has been awarded the 2nd Prize of “2014 Lilly Outstanding Thesis Awards”. The award consists of USD 1000 and a Lilly plaque.

Prof. Jitendra K. Bera has been elected as Fellow of National Academy of Sciences, India.

Prof. Sandeep Verma have been awarded for Darshan Ranganathan Memorial Lecture Award 2015 of Chemical Research Society of India.
