Travel Details

The Campus of IIT Kanpur is located on GT Road at Kalyanpur, about 16 km west of Kanpur city.


Arrival by Air

Visitors coming to Kanpur have to fly to Lucknow Airport. which is 80 kms away from campus. The organizers will send cars to the Lucknow airport to receive the invited guests. It takes about two hours to drive from the Lucknow airport to the IIT campus in Kanpur.


Arrival by Train

Kanpur is well connected by railways to all the major cities in India . The IIT Kanpur is located at a distance of about 16 kilometers from the Kanpur Central Railway Station. The invited guests would be received by the organizers at the station. They would be driven to the guest house by cars. A person carrying a placard bearing name and other details would be present at Platform No. 1 exit to receive the guests.


Travel advice to the students

The students are advised to take public means of transport to reach IIT campus. They may hire auto rickshaw or taxi available at the exit of railway station. The fare may vary from Rs. 100 to Rs. 150 depending upon the time of day. On reaching the main gate of the campus, they should not leave the auto at the IITK main gate (entry point). To take the auto inside the campus they would have to provide the purpose of their visit at the security check. After completing the formalities the auto will take them to the visitors' hostel.
