The decision(s) in refining business are complex, due to large no of variables and their interlinkage. Besides, the refining business itself has become more complex with the passage of time. There have been constant efforts to develop simulation and optimisation models to support business decisions, which originally catered to technical requirements like design, troubleshooting etc. The presentation covers the major elements of refining business and their relationship and various types of simulation and optimisation needs to take right decision and maximise profit.
