Data Centre

The new Data Centre at CC, which is expected to be operational by November, 2012, consists of three server rooms with state-of-the-art  precision air conditioning and fire safety features. This Data Centre is built under the initiative of high performance computing (HPC) and it is fully supported by the Institute.  Many other infrastructural installations related to this Data Centre, such as new high-capacity electrical transformer, new DG sets, UPS systems, electrical cables etc have also been put in place. CC would be in a position to host substantially bigger and more number of HPC clusters and other high-end servers once this Data Centre comes into operation.

Out of the three server rooms in this Data Centre, Server Room 1 will be used for hosting HPC clusters of CC. Server Room 2 will be used for hosting clusters of Project PIs and Departments and the Server Room 3 will be used for keeping Utility Servers of CC, OA and other  Sections/Facilities. The usage policies of these server rooms have been finalized by the HPC Advisory cum Management Committee of CC (see http://web.iitk.ac.in/cc/hpc/hpc_advisory_members.pdf )  in its meeting on September 26, 2012 ( http://web.iitk.ac.in/cc/meetings_hpc.htm ). The details of the said policies are available in the following  links on Intranet.
