Academic Background:
Dr. Anupam Pal obtained his Ph.D from the Pennsylvania State University (USA), in 2000 and had his postdoctoral training in the same University. Dr Pal joined the department on July 3, 2006.
Research Interests:
Dr Pal's research interests include:
- Coupled modeling of muscle and biofluid mechanics. Flow through the physiological systems, such as the gastrointestinal tract, is both driven and controlled by muscular contractions. He propose to develop numerical and experimental models to understand biomechanics of physiological transport processes, developing of diagnostic tools and treatment procedures for diseases related to fluid transport in the human body.
- High performance computing methods. Using high performance computing methodologies and efficient parallel algorithms, he propose to develop computer models that can capture physiologically relevant details of fluid transport through the human body.
- Image processing and data visualization. Development of analytical, computational and statistical tools for analysis of image data (X-ray, MRI, ultrasound and CT scan) to understand physiological processes and for computational/experimental modeling.
